The Nationals Member for Murray Valley, Ken Jasper, is in a competitive frame of mind as he prepares to front up for his final celebrity grape tread at this year’s Rutherglen Country Fair, held as part of the renowned Winery Walkabout Weekend on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Mr Jasper, who retires as the Member for Murray Valley at the State election in November, is determined to regain his title as grape tread champion at this year’s event, to be held in Rutherglen’s closed Main Street on Sunday, June 13 2010. It was a disappointing result last year, going down to Gaming and Consumer Affairs Minister, Tony Robinson, and I am sure that I will regain the crown this year, he said. |

Ken Jasper to HUSH to help homeless Australians It’s not often you have a politician being voluntarily silent but on Friday 14 May, Ken Jasper, Member for Murray Valley, will be silencing himself for an hour to raise money for Mission Australia’s HUSH for Homelessness. “As many of you would be aware, it’s rare for me to go any length of time without speaking,” says Member for Murray Valley, Ken Jasper. “However, this is an exception to the rule and I will happily remain silent for one hour on 14 May to raise money for Mission Australia’s homeless services. |

It was a critical day in the long history of the Rutherglen Lake Rowing Club when three new boats were christened at Lake Moodemere on Sunday. One was named for local Parliamentarian, The Nationals Member for Murray Valley, Ken Jasper, another for Mr Jasper’s wife, Annette, and a third for Gary and Mary Milthorpe, of Wahgunyah. President of the Rutherglen Lake Rowing Club, Paul Somerville, said the naming of the boats recognised the support provided to the club by Ken and Annette Jasper and Gary and Mary Milthorpe, over a long period of time. |

The Nationals Member for Murray Valley, Ken Jasper, has congratulated the Wangaratta Stationeers and coordinator David Maroney for their activities in beautifying the Wangaratta railway station over the past 10 years. Mr Maroney has dedicated himself to the beautification of the station area, together with a small band of volunteers, resulting in the excellent presentation of the station for people utilising rail services, Mr Jasper said I have made representations on behalf of the Stationeers to assist in achieving small V-Line grants to assist with beautification works over a number of years, he said. |

Another competitive Celebrity Grape Tread Challenge is guaranteed at Rutherglen’s Country Fair on Sunday, June 7 2009, part of the famous Winery Walkabout Weekend, The Nationals Member for Murray Valley, Ken Jasper, said today. Mr Jasper was delighted to win back his title last year, after a couple of disappointing years, and is now preparing to take on Victorian Gaming and Consumer Affairs Minister, Tony Robinson, and the third contender, the State Member for Albury, Greg Aplin. I am looking forward to being part of the challenge and believe that with my training program and expertise, I will be able to hold my title crown, in what should be an exciting challenge event. |
