Nationals to look at income splitting for families
Monday, 21 June 2010

Nationals Federal Conference 2010
Federal president of The Nationals John Tanner [from Benalla], Tammy Atkins, Federal Parliamentary Leader Warren Truss, Ken Jasper MLA Member for Murray Valley and Marty Corboy
Income splitting will be considered by the Federal National Party as a tool to assist Australian families thanks to an amendment moved by Indi delegates to The Nationals 90th Anniversary Conference held in Canberra at the weekend, Marty Corboy and Tammy Atkins.

Marty Corboy, 31, from Wangaratta, and Tammy Atkins, 34, from Milawa, were successful in convincing conference delegates that income splitting offered an advantage to one income families by allowing a husband and wife to combine their income for tax purposes, meaning that they would pay less tax.

Father of four, Mr Corboy said income splitting could be useful and more empowering for couples when considered an alternative to welfare.

Further review of liquor licences essential
Wednesday, 16 June 2010

The State Government must undertake an immediate further review of inequities in liquor licence fees, The Nationals Member for Murray Valley, Ken Jasper, said today.

The continued inappropriate level of fees and ongoing inequities is causing anger and frustration for liquor licence holders across Victoria and in my electorate of Murray Valley, he said.

It was a disappointing result last year, going down to Gaming and Consumer Affairs Minister, Tony Robinson, and I am sure that I will regain the crown this year, he said.
